Made with 3DMAX. I don't really happy with my 3d car model right here.... Even though at the first glance it looks beautiful but if anybody ever seen the real car or even only browse another similar model in DA, you'll know the difference.... the sticker is missing....the air pipe is missing....the side bumper should be red...and so on...And I wasn't satisfied about the glass material that I used (I used raytrace on refract and mental ray renderer) The lecturer said that raytrace and architecture materials is not supported by mentalray, is that true? The composite material that I used for the stickers has soooooo many problems that even the lecturer is confused about the student's strange occurings.... (on high poly-ed cars they even destroy the gizmos)
This model is not really high poly-ed (around 400.000 polys) but the material made the file heavy, it crashed so many times. Even it takes so much more time to render compared to other high poly-ed model. I think this is because of that damn stickers....
Overall I'm quite happy for the model but isn't quite satisfied with the finishing and lighting (I can't use the photometric light, only skylight X( ). This is the model I'll submit for the mid test....I hope the lecturer will at least give me some decent mark for this...
But from all, I need some great suggestions from everybody who had more experience on this =) For professionals: do you unwrap the whole car?

raytrace dan architectural material memang nggak terlalu bagus buat mental ray, kecuali raytrace sebagai map reflection atau refraction dalam standard material.

Unwrap biasanya dipake kalo mobil ini satu object secara keseluruhan, atau untuk model dalam game, atau bentuk stikernya nggak wajar.

Gue sih nggak pernah pake unwrap untuk mobil karena kalo perlu mengedit letak atau bentuk stiker, unwrap sangat tidak efektif.
